Thanks to SheIn et al., we have a pandemic of illfitting clothes, I think. Sending back is inconvenient or it’s just good enough to not be worth the hassle, or they have already been washed, tag removed etc. So everywhere on the street we have people with the most shitty looking, illfitting clothes. Sticking out in the back, or too loose at the top too tight on the bottom, hip cinch at the wrong spot, and more. No one who shops at these places would bother to learn to sew to adjust it and you wouldn’t hire a tailor to adjust a 15 Euro dress in the back. Absolutely insane to see.
Pieces that look good in a picture but look terrible in motion. Pieces that are okay for sitting at home but whose straps constantly fall off the shoulders and dresses that always ride up when out, making you adjust it every 5 seconds. Pieces that look good from the front but like shit from every other angle. Pieces that don’t look good on anyone because the model picture was AI generated or they used pins on the back for the model.
You’ll always be “finding your people”. You’ll never be done doing so. You’ll always change, go to different spaces, meet new people and vibe with people you’d previously might not have considered. You’ll leave the people you’ve found and find new ones.
I don’t know if I’ll ever forget how it felt when the entire world was more or less in lockdown and complaining how unbearable it is, that it’s torture, that this can’t be good for mental health, and meanwhile it was 99% of how I had already lived for most of my life. I know it can be really hard on people but also, get a grip. The unintentional shaming of the disabled, the depressed, the ones in abusive relationships and with controlling parents… many people’s lockdown never ends and it’s nothing they can control. And you feel bad because you have to be at home more for such little time, for your own benefit?
It’s interesting to see how scared I am of people that seem unstable in a way. Example: if you seem to majorly crash out about something every couple weeks, then delete (almost all) your accounts, leave groups you’re in, go silent and then come back reinvented with a new personality and repeat the cycle… I am actually so uncomfortable by you, in a deep gut-feeling kinda way that I can’t control. You don’t even have to have hurt me in any way or have done anything mean; it’s just like seeing someone walking around smiling while being on fire, and you’re careful about not getting too close so your clothes don’t catch fire by their presence. And honestly I don’t wanna get close to anyone that is flaky and who is trying on different personalities because it makes me think I don’t even know who you are and as if our friendship is going to reset every other month.
