the ick
some things on here that give me the ick (to be continued):
- begging for upvotes
- including a whole disclaimer to explain what the chevrons on this platform stand for to gain more upvotes
- getting upvotes and holding an acceptance speech like you just got an award
- being on Trending once and using the moment to plug your social media accounts. what the fuck are you doing, shouldn’t it be the other way around
- acting like attention on a blogging platform is a resource we deprive people of and the rich 1% of the platform should go out of their way to redistribute eyeballs for some reason, outside of already sharing the links they like. It reeks so badly of social media behaviors and even though I can sympathize with wanting to be read, I can’t connect to it myself in that way and I think we should leave some social media brainworms and worries where they came from
- spending more time, more words, and more posts complaining about who is Trending and who isn’t under the guise of comfort bloggers or hidden gems or building a community or whatever, than to actually share links to those underrated bloggers. Let’s just face it: the underrated gem is you, isn’t it?
- having like 2-4 posts and complaining about lack of consistent attention. Can you please give it time and give people a chance to get to know you? Can you give yourself time to write a couple bangers?
