princess
That alpha woman/princess treatment content about glowing up and being so pretty that everyone stumbles over themselves trying to give you stuff, help you and hold the door open is obviously some bullshit, but I’m here to say it’s also not entirely false or made up. It sure is exaggerated, but the experiences itself occasionally happen if you’re a woman.
I think I’m fairly good looking - not overt, but not ugly either. I might be something of a “not many people’s type but if I am you’re obsessed”, but not sure. Anyway, it was never hard for me to get into a relationship. There was always someone interested. I had to reject a lot of people. The people I wanted always wanted me back. I’ve never been rejected romantically or sexually.
Still, I can go days without catching anyone looking at me, weeks or months without anyone hitting me up while I’m out, months between kindness that is obviously based on attraction. Either there is no attraction or it’s silent, which makes sense, because how often do YOU actually tell a stranger they’re beautiful? Or try to get them food?
Anyway, are there situations where someone thinks you’re so pretty that they say the drink or food you got is on the house or their tab? Sure. I’ve gotten free food and drinks. But it’s not literally everywhere you go, all the time, like those women insist. That would be so fucking annoying too. It’s not necessarily about how pretty you are but instead more about if you happen to be where a confident, outgoing and generous person is or not. Same with holding the door open or asking to carry something heavy for you. I had that happen with a very big parcel I underestimated that I had to carry home from the parcel station.
Can’t say anyone has ever given me money or offered to pay for my items or rent like those TikToks insist, and I doubt glowing up more would change that. But I do know all of my partners were generous with me. The last man I dated bought me lots of expensive tech like an iPad, gaming peripherals etc. and a lot of Steam games and ingame skins. He drove me everywhere and picked me up because I don’t drive.
I went on my typical work lunch walk and a guy approached me saying I looked stunning and made it difficult not to approach me and that he just had to. He took the rejection very well and he was very nice.
I don’t know if this is something you should strive for or try to glow up for. It not happening to you says nothing about how attractive you are, just as the months where I don’t get hit on don’t erase the others. You have to consider other factors as well: How often are you outside? Are you available (waiting in line, sitting somewhere, not with someone else)? No one is gonna reach you at home or while you rush to the grocery store. Economic factors, too. Many people cannot be generous to strangers anymore because they don’t have disposable income anymore and have to focus on their loved ones. Maybe you’re also near people who struggle with anxiety. Or they’re very educated about feminism and the issue of catcalling or approaching women being scary for the woman, so they’re passive and waiting for women to approach them instead, or sending more subtle signs.
The people who say all that stuff never happens are… I wanted to say lying, but I guess not, not intentionally. They’re speaking their truth. It never happens to them or anyone they know. But truthfully it does happen. But not everywhere I go and I don’t want it to. It sounds like a nightmare. Every couple months, together with a partner that positively spoils me is totally fine.
