plastic surgery

Getting most cosmetic plastic surgery isn’t anything. It’s not feminist, it may not be anti-feminist either, but it sure as hell also isn’t revolutionary or reclaiming one’s body. It’s fixing supposed flaws that didn’t bother you until you were made aware of it by TikTok. It’s always following conventional contemporary beauty standards like making ass and tits bigger and more plump or perky, stomach flatter, lips bigger, nose smaller, eyes bigger. No one ever makes their lips thin or their nose big. If you were reclaiming your body from the way it is always policed by the outside, why is it following their policy? Why do the changes always happen to be ones currently trending? Why aren’t you getting silicone implants into your tummy? Why aren’t you getting horn implants in your forehead or something? You’d laugh at people with a fully tattooed body and horns and a split tongue and tattooed eyeballs but at least they’re reclaiming their bodies for real unaffected by the mainstream standards. You mean to tell me you just randomly happen to like yourself more with a sharper jawline and more pronounced cheek bones, coincidentally? Sure. I’m considering it from time to time too but at least I’m not lying to myself about why I’d want it and what the reason is.

“I’m getting a boob job to feel more comfortable in my body, wear some clothes and not look like a little kid; you’re the problem if you think this has something to do with patriarchy” is so cringe. Detail what makes you uncomfortable then. Not sexy enough? Who sets the standard for that? Who decides what’s the mature size? Don’t you think everything making you feel that way (people, clothes companies etc.) are not affected by patriarchal beauty standards? Why can’t you clothes shop like a normal person? Why can’t you alter your goddamn clothes? So you wanna wear clothing that needs a big rack but deny it is sexualizing? Why do you wanna display them then and wear these clothes? Obviously it looks good and makes you feel like a baddie, and why is that? Because it looks attractive. Sexy.

I cannot believe we have to spell each thought out for these people. They never seem to want to know where any of their feelings and motivations come from. Make me feel good = is good is all that’s going on in that brain. Just admit you wanna impress other people than yourself. At least be an honest and upfront people pleaser my god.

Why does everything you do have to have a greater cause, be some sort of resistance to something and have a deeper meaning? You can get a boob job to be prettier without bending over backwards about how getting big honkers is feminist. It’s like how people cannot just dislike a show anymore without making it sound like it has severe political issues. The reaches are incredible. It’s okay to just do it because others do it. You don’t need to say how you’re only reading that book due to some contrived noble reason when you actually read it because it’s trending right now and it intrigued you. Mainstream is ok. Obviously giving in to external pressure but insisting it’s not so is so dumb, even more so when it’s upfront without anyone asking, or under some post not directed at you.
