I did OF for 3 months at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020. I stopped because I grew bored of it, ran out of ideas and realized the promises weren’t good enough for me. Back then, there wasn’t a huge OF culture or promotion, not much advertising and not that many glamorizing it. Still, seemed like easy money on the side. And it was, back then - much, much less competition than nowadays, less race to the bottom in terms of pricing. I didn’t promote it anywhere and still got subscribers somehow. I got 300 Euro in total, I believe, which is okay for just 3 months with no promotion or trying to get it to grow. This wouldn’t work nowadays.

I bought into the idea that I get sexualized anyway, so I might as well capitalize on it. That I get harassed by some men anyway, might as well get compensated. But honestly, it isn’t enough. No price is. Feet pics? Okay, would sell that for 250. But everything else? Nah.

You aren’t compensated for existing issues - you exacerbate them greatly and the money isn’t worth it. I realized I don’t wanna give men access to me like that at all; I don’t want them to think they can buy their way into making a lesbian sexually accessible to them. That’s one of the issues… queer people have a hard time finding you and most women will not pay for porn. That means despite your target audience being other groups, it will always be straight cis men who dominate. Paying gives men the impression that you consented to being mistreated because “what did you expect” or in the name of some kink or “I paid money so I’m entitled to this”.

Many men think women are worshipped on there, but no. Yes, men pay, but they pay to harass and disrespect you. Simps are rare, respectful customers are rare. Most want to get you to do sick, disturbing, awful and dangerous custom content for them and insult you. The reason that all these big OF creators hire chatters to chat for them isn’t just volume, it’s that it would literally be unhealthy to see thousands of these sick fantasies about you all day for years. Rape, murder, skinning you, inserting sharp objects into you, etc.

The people glamorizing OF nowadays don’t talk about that, likely because they’re shielded from it by chatters and their management team, and to not alienate anyone, especially newcomers they can sign up via their link and earn a portion of that income, like a pyramid scheme.

Literally nothing about this is empowering. If you are lucky and do extreme things, you can gain financial power, but that is rare. You will likely be humiliated and disrespected for peanuts.

Also, most people buying your content will be people that hate your guts otherwise and vote against you. The men who were my biggest spenders were homophobic Republicans in the US. They admitted this, and it was like a taboo for them to spend money on a leftist lesbian. You can see this everywhere; many times, transphobic accounts online don’t hide their likes and it’s full of trans porn.

At the time, I played it off as being compensated by bigots for their bigotry, but really it’s not that. My content didn’t change their mind. If anything, their little taboo game with themselves made it fester as queerness being dirty, secretive, sexual and shameful. Having 100 Euro more in your account doesn’t protect you from the consequences when it comes to voting.

The only way to end this game is to not play.
