helping others
I don’t like helping people anymore. Or rather, it depends on the circumstance. If they ask me directly for input and if I know any resources or have any advice or tips, I’m game. But if it’s a general call for help in a public/group place or someone just talking about some struggles, I will no longer bother. Even if it’s just sending a link their way that could help.
I have received terrible or unfitting advice or resources many times as well, but I just say thank you or that I will look into it either way. Or if I am patient and know the other person could know something better in that direction, I say thanks but gently reword my problem to be a bit more concrete or underline what would help me better. Maybe like: Thank you, I have looked at it and it’s going in the right direction, do you possibly know something for (actual problem better worded)?
But many people don’t do that, or aren’t capable of it, it seems. Instead, they treat you like an AI bot that delivered a wrong answer. Rude, ungrateful, dismissive, maybe even passive aggressive. Like your response or attempt to help is a silly burden, like you’re fucking stupid for not reading their mind or not knowing the details they failed to provide, which would have altered your understanding and answer.
The problem has always been there but I assume it will get worse due to AI conversations.
Bothering to share knowledge when that’s the response of so many people is not worth it. Not my problem then! And if anyone acts weird after I try to help them, I literally just never help them again anymore. Two strike system, maybe even one.
